Grand Rapids Area Service Project [GRASP] is committed to reaching the Greater Grand Rapids community with the love and grace of Jesus Christ. Since 1985, we have been helping low-income and elderly homeowners with much-needed home repairs. In many cases these homeowners are facing significant fines from the city if repairs are not completed. Some need painting, carpentry, plumbing, or roofing repairs. Some need modifications to their home to be make it more accessible due to a disability. Some simply need help getting things cleaned up because they just aren't able to do the work themselves. Every project is unique, but they all have one thing in common – someone is in need.
Most of our projects come as referrals from local neighborhood associations, city housing inspectors, social workers, and churches. We review the need, visit the site to assess the materials, tools and skills necessary to complete the project. Then we determine an action plan and match the project with a youth group, church group, or other group to complete the project.
To impact the lives of the individuals and families we serve, helping them to understand how long and wide, deep and high is the love of Christ.
To plant the seeds of neighborhood revitalization.
To enhance the quality of life in our community through acts of service.
To provide an environment for volunteers to grow in their personal relationship with Christ.
